Kale, carrots, mint and apple. Doesn't look so hot, but close your eyes and you'll think your drinking a 12 dollar virgin daiquiri from Applebee's.

Birthday Juice
Just Juice It would like to wish a Happy Belated Birthday to JJi Founder, Ed.
Happy Birthday, Ed!
He recently just returned from a trip to New Orleans celebrating birthdays for Corey and himself, which explains the lack of Juice Of The Day posts. From the looks of who he was hanging out with down there (see below) - seems like he had his hands full with not much room for juice..

Exploring Options
Fueled by a Produce Junction (see 2/24 post below) trip yesterday during my lunch, I was inspired to broaden my horizons of smoothie ingredient options. Insert: green grapes, pineapple, kiwi, and mangos as the latest additions to a roster already including the everyday lineup of bananas, strawberries, blueberries, apples, and baby spinach.
Thirsty Thursday:
1 kiwi
1 partially frozen banana
4 strawberries
1/2 handful of blueberries
1/2 handful of grapes
1 handful of baby spinach
7oz Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
It was good. The banana really overpowers the taste of everything.. Maybe pull back to a half.. But then what do you do with the other half - just let it go brown? Speaking of color, one common theme that is evident - chlorophyll dominates. Note to self: work on its visual appeal.

Jack Lalanne: Innovator of JUICING
71 Years-Old |
"If man made it, don't eat it."
And
"If it tastes good, spit it out."
I'm not so sure what he was thinking with his second rule, because juice tastes good. Never the less, these rules proved.. fruitful.., as Jack graced us for 96 years. During those 96 years, other than being a PIONEER OF JUICING, Jack wore many other hats including those of a Chiropractor, a television host, an entrepreneur, and a fitness aficionado. Deemed an "Apostle for Fitness," Former Governor and 7-time Mr. Olympia, Arnold Schwarzenegger, once stated "That Jack Lalanne's an animal!"
Fingertip Pushups at 85 |
- In 1946, at the age of 42, set a world record for pushups with 1,033 in 23 minutes.
- To promote The Jack LaLanne Show, 3 years later he completed 1,000 jumping jacks and 1,000 chin-ups in 1 hour, 22 minutes. LaLanne said this was the most difficult of his stunts, but only because the skin on his hands started ripping off during the chin-ups. He felt he couldn't stop because it would be seen as a public failure.
- At the age of 66 in Miami, FL, Jack felt the need to tow 10 boats carrying a total of 77 people for more than one mile. He did this in less than an hour.
Ladies and Gentlemen, THE POWER OF JUICING.
Jack's Super 7
2 carrots
1 potato
2 broccoli florettes
1/2 small beet
1/4 red pepper
1 tomato
1/4 cucumber
1 potato
2 broccoli florettes
1/2 small beet
1/4 red pepper
1 tomato
1/4 cucumber
Add to juicer in that order and juice.
Juice of the day
Lots of kale, clementine, pink lady apple. A little bitter from all the kale, but who cares, with all that chlorophyll I'll be sprouting a rosebud out the top of my head.
